6. Canine Coronavirus
Canine coronavirus (CCoV) causes respiratory and gastrointestinal illness in dogs. It is most common in puppies and young dogs.
Causes
Canine coronavirus spreads through contact with infected feces or contaminated surfaces.
Symptoms
Dogs with coronavirus may experience
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Abdominal discomfort
Puppies and older dogs are more susceptible to severe symptoms.
Treatment
Supportive care is ideal for managing dehydration and discomfort.
Vaccines are available in some regions but are not considered essential in all cases.
Healthy dogs may recover without any treatment.
